Is BlinkBaby really free?

Yes. BlinkBaby is free to download from the App Store and the core baby monitor features — HD video, cry detection, two-way audio, and push notifications — are free to use. There are no ads and we never sell your data.

What do I need to use BlinkBaby as a baby monitor?

Two Apple devices running a recent version of iOS — any combination of iPhone or iPad. One stays in the baby's room as the camera and microphone; the other is the viewer you keep with you. An old iPhone you no longer use as your daily phone works perfectly.

Does the baby monitor work over Wi-Fi or also over mobile data?

Both. BlinkBaby streams over Wi-Fi when both devices are on the same network, and also works over mobile data so you can check on your baby from outside the house.

How accurate is the cry detection?

Cry detection runs on-device using Apple's audio classification framework. It distinguishes baby crying from background noise, white-noise machines, and household sounds, and sends an instant push notification to your viewer device when it triggers.

Can I use an old iPhone as a baby monitor?

Yes — that's one of the most common ways people use BlinkBaby. Install the app on the old iPhone, place it in the baby's room (plugged in), tap Start Monitoring, and scan the QR code with your current iPhone or iPad to view the live feed.

Does BlinkBaby work on iPad?

Yes. BlinkBaby is a universal iOS app and works on iPhone and iPad. You can use an iPad as the camera, as the viewer, or in any mixed combination with an iPhone.

Is BlinkBaby secure and private?

The video and audio stream is end-to-end encrypted between your devices. We don't store recordings, we don't sell data, and we don't show ads. No account or sign-up is required.

Can my partner or grandparents view the same baby monitor?

Yes. Multiple viewer devices can connect to the same camera at the same time by scanning the QR code, so a partner, grandparent, or babysitter can all keep an eye on the baby in parallel.
