How is California HR Company different from a PEO?
A PEO bundles HR with payroll and benefits, charges a percentage of payroll, and creates a co-employment relationship that can be hard to exit. We do not. We are an HR-only firm. You keep your existing payroll provider, your existing benefits broker, and your existing employer-of-record status. You pay a clear monthly fee for the HR work — nothing more.
How quickly can you start?
For most engagements, we can begin within five to seven business days of the signed engagement letter. For urgent matters — a pending termination, an active investigation, a Labor Commissioner notice — we can usually begin same-day or next-day.
What's the difference between your HR Audit and your Compliance package?
The HR Audit is a one-time diagnostic. We review your documents, processes, training records, and exposure, and give you a written report with specific recommendations. The Compliance package is a project that addresses specific California compliance mandates — handbook, sexual harassment training, workplace violence prevention plan, classification review — and delivers updated documents and active programs.
Do you handle employment lawsuits or charges?
We are not employment attorneys and we do not provide legal representation. We do work closely with our clients' attorneys when a charge or lawsuit is active. We typically handle the documentation, the position-statement drafting, the witness preparation, and the day-to-day HR coordination — and the attorney handles the legal strategy and the formal filings.
Can you support a company with multiple locations?
Yes. We support clients with one location, three locations, and fifteen locations. For multi-location clients, we coordinate location-specific compliance — city minimum wages, local ordinances, location-specific handbook supplements — alongside the company-wide work.
Do you work with companies outside Orange County?
Yes. We are headquartered in Orange County and serve clients across California — Los Angeles, the Inland Empire, San Diego County, the Central Valley, and the Bay Area. Our advisors are California-based and our compliance content reflects the local ordinances that apply in your specific jurisdiction.
What does a typical retainer look like?
