In 2001, two things happened to me: I broke my back and I became a mom. With both those experiences, I learned how workplace policies don’t always work for everyone. So, I started organizing. In 2012, I ran for the Senate in order to make paid leave a reality in Rhode Island.

Only 59 women have ever served in the Rhode Island Senate. It has been the honor of a lifetime to be one of them. I’d like to thank the people of the East Side and Fox Point communities for their support, and for standing alongside me as we work to make Rhode Island a more just society.
