What is Modern Cents?

Modern Cents is a women-led, advice-only Canadian financial-planning firm. We deliver flat-fee planning across cash flow, tax, investments, retirement, and U.S./Canada cross-border situations. We don't sell products and we don't take commissions or assets-under-management fees.

What does "advice-only" financial planning mean?

Advice-only means we charge a flat fee for planning advice and don't sell mutual funds, segregated funds, insurance, or investment-management services. Our income comes entirely from the fees our clients pay us — not commissions, not referral kickbacks, and not a percentage of your portfolio.

Who does Modern Cents work with?

We work with Canadian households and individuals, including U.S. citizens living in Canada, Canadians with U.S. assets or pensions, and dual citizens. Clients typically come to us at a turning point — a job change, the sale of a business, a retirement decision, or a cross-border move.

Are Modern Cents planners certified?

Yes. Our team are Certified Financial Planners (CFP) with additional credentials including the U.S. Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC) and the Certified Cash Flow Specialist (CCS) designation, plus prior Bay Street experience in wealth management.

Modern Cents is a Canadian firm that works with clients across Canada virtually, with a specialty in U.S./Canada cross-border planning for households that have assets, income, or citizenship on both sides of the border.
