Can I highlight and annotate articles?

Yes! Select any text to highlight it in one of 5 colors, add notes, and organize your highlights. All highlights sync across devices for Pro users. You can also export your highlights to Notion, Obsidian, Markdown, or JSON.

Can I listen to articles?

Yes — SMRY can read any article aloud with natural AI voices. Choose from up to 10 voices, adjust playback speed, and follow along with word-by-word highlighting. Free users get 2 voices, Pro users unlock all 10.

How fast are summaries generated?

Summaries are generated in seconds using AI. We cache summaries to provide instant results for articles that have been summarized before.

Can I change the interface language?

Yes. SMRY's interface is available in 6 languages: English, Portuguese, German, Chinese, Spanish, and Dutch. You can switch languages from settings or from the reader toolbar.

Is there a limit to how many summaries I can generate?

Yes, to ensure fair usage, there are rate limits: 20 summaries per day and 6 summaries per minute per IP address.

How do I use SMRY?

You have three options: Prepend smry.ai/ to the article you're reading (for example: smry.ai/news-site.com/article). This instantly opens the cleaned article and the summary builder. Paste a URL directly on smry.ai and we'll fetch it for you. Drag the bookmarklet on our homepage to your bookmarks bar; tapping it wraps whatever page you're on in SMRY.

Does this work with all websites?

SMRY works with most major publications, news sites, and blogs — over 1,000 sites are supported. Some sites with strict access restrictions may show partial content. We're constantly improving coverage.
