Who owns the assets created with Solaya, and how is data handled?

Solaya retains ownership of the generated 3D assets; however, the person or company who performed the scan is granted unlimited exploitation rights. This ensures you have the full freedom to use, distribute, and monetize the content across any channel or platform for your business needs.

Do I need professional lighting or a tripod to get a high-fidelity scan?

No. Solaya’s proprietary 3D reconstruction pipeline is designed to understand and normalize lighting, depth, and geometry automatically. While neutral, even light is always helpful, we also recommend avoiding backlights and windows, allowing you to capture professional-grade models using just your smartphone in a standard environment.

Which materials or surfaces are most difficult to capture?

Like most 3D capture technologies, extremely transparent (clear glass) or highly mirrored surfaces can be challenging. However, our pipeline excels at mastering complex textures like leather grain, matte metals, and wood better than standard photogrammetry thanks to our quality enhancement algorithms.

What is the maximum size of an object or scene I can capture?

Solaya is highly versatile, allowing you to capture high-fidelity models ranging from a 2cm piece of jewelry to full-sized furniture like a chair.

Which file formats can I export, and are they compatible with Blender, Unreal Engine, Shopify, Adobe After Effects, or Houdini?

Currently, Solaya exports natively in .ply format, which is optimized for our high-fidelity Gaussian Splatting pipeline. While we are working on introducing several new formats soon, the current .ply files are highly versatile. You can use existing plugins to integrate these scans directly into all of the platforms mentioned—Blender, Unreal Engine, Shopify, Adobe After Effects, and Houdini, ensuring a smooth transition into your existing creative or e-commerce workflow.
