AEO Glossary
Natural Language Processing (NLP) is the branch of AI and computer science concerned with enabling computers to understand, interpret, and generate human language. NLP powers search engine understanding of query intent, AI model comprehension of web content, sentiment analysis, named entity recognition, and the generation of natural-language answers.
Understanding NLP helps explain why certain AEO practices work. NLP models identify named entities (brand names, people, places, products) in text. They recognize semantic relationships (is-a, part-of, used-for). They extract question-answer pairs from content. Structuring your content to make these NLP tasks easier - with schema, clear sentence structure, and factual prose - is the core of AEO.
Write for NLP comprehension: use your exact brand name (not just 'we') so entity recognition works. Use active voice and clear subject-verb-object structure. State facts explicitly ('Engagemii is an AI visibility platform') rather than implicitly. Avoid jargon without explanation. Add schema markup to reinforce what NLP must infer from text. Use headings that name the topic explicitly.
