Your AEO score measures whether AI search engines - ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini - can actually read your site and cite it in answers. Roughly two-thirds of sites are invisible to them. At 5.1/10, Canvas Ninja has a working base to build on - fixable, and the signals above are where to start.
Can Canvas see what tabs you have open?
No, Canvas cannot see which specific tabs or websites you visit. But Canvas does detect when you leave the quiz page by monitoring browser focus events. Every time you switch to a different tab or window, Canvas logs it as a 'Stopped viewing the Canvas quiz-taking page' event in the quiz activity log. Your teacher can then review these Canvas quiz logs and see exactly when and how many times you navigated away.
How do I cheat on Canvas quizzes without getting caught?
The safest way is to never trigger a tab-switch event — and that's what Canvas Ninja enables. Our Privacy Guard feature intercepts Canvas's tracking code so no tab-switch events are recorded in your quiz log. Combined with the built-in AI answer feature, you get help directly on the quiz page without ever triggering detection.
What do Canvas quiz logs show my teacher?
Canvas quiz logs show your teacher a detailed timeline: when you started the quiz, every time the quiz tab lost focus, how long you were away, and when you submitted. Multiple 'Stopped viewing the Canvas quiz-taking page' entries are a red flag. Canvas Ninja prevents these entries from appearing by blocking the detection code entirely.
Does using incognito mode hide me from Canvas tracking?
No. Canvas's tab-switch detection works through browser focus events, not cookies or browsing history. Whether you're in a normal window or incognito, Canvas can still detect when you leave the quiz page. Canvas Ninja is the only reliable way to block this tracking regardless of your browser mode.
Does Canvas track your location?
Canvas does not track your physical GPS location, but it does log your IP address every time you log in or take a quiz. From your IP, your school can approximate your city or check whether you accessed Canvas from an unusual network. Canvas Ninja does not change your IP — use a VPN for that — but it does block the quiz-log entries that flag suspicious behavior.
Does Canvas track your IP address?
Yes. Canvas records the IP address of every login and quiz submission. Admins can pull these records to see when and from where you accessed Canvas. This is normal LMS behavior and is covered by your school's terms of service.
Can Canvas see when you switch tabs?
Yes — during a quiz. Canvas uses the browser's visibility and focus API to detect when the quiz tab loses focus, and logs each event with a timestamp. Outside of quizzes, Canvas does not track tab switching. Canvas Ninja blocks the visibility/focus listeners so no switch events are recorded.
Does Canvas track how long you spend on each question?
Canvas does not log per-question time by default in Classic Quizzes, but it does record overall start, pause, and submission timestamps. New Quizzes can capture more granular per-question response times. Teachers may infer time per question by comparing the quiz log with answer change history.
