What is Spravato®, and how is it different from other treatments?

Spravato® is an FDA-approved nasal spray treatment for Treatment-Resistant Depression (TRD). Unlike traditional oral antidepressants that can take weeks to work and affect the whole body, it’s a rapid-acting agent that targets the glutamate system in the brain, which is thought to play a key role in depression. It is administered under medical supervision in our clinic, allowing for immediate support and monitoring of its effects.

Is this treatment covered by insurance?

What does a typical treatment session look like at Novamind?

Your safety and comfort are our priority. A typical session lasts about 2 hours. You will self-administer the Spravato® nasal spray under the guidance of our clinical team in a private, calming space. For the remainder of the session, you will relax in a monitored setting as we track your well-being. You will need a pre-arranged ride home after each appointment.

How quickly might I see results, and how long does the treatment last?

Many patients report feeling initial improvements within the first few weeks of treatment. The standard initial phase involves two sessions per week for approximately 4-6 weeks (about 10-12 sessions total). After this, your clinician will work with you to create a personalized maintenance plan, which often involves gradually reducing the frequency of sessions to sustain your progress.
