FAQPage Schema

FAQPage schema is a Schema.org structured data type that marks up a page's question-and-answer content in a format AI models and search engines can directly parse and cite. It uses the FAQPage type with mainEntity arrays of Question and Answer pairs.

Why it matters for AEO

FAQPage schema is one of the highest-impact AEO implementations because AI answer engines are specifically designed to find and cite question-answer pairs. When a user asks ChatGPT or Perplexity a question that matches your FAQ, your schema-marked answer has a dramatically higher chance of being cited verbatim. Google previously showed FAQ schema as rich results in SERPs - and AI models learned from those annotated examples.

How to implement

Identify the top 5-10 questions your customers actually ask (use your support emails, sales call notes, and Google Search Console 'People also ask' data). Write clear, factual 2-4 sentence answers to each. Add FAQPage JSON-LD to the relevant page. Avoid marketing language - write answers the way you'd explain it to a smart friend who doesn't know your product.
