Wat wil IST bereiken?
Met dit project willen we bijdragen aan een eerlijker strafrechtsysteem. We willen ervoor zorgen dat jongeren meer vertrouwen krijgen in politie en justitie, en dat er minder verschil is in hoe jongeren worden bestraft of terugvallen in criminele activiteiten. Ook willen we met dit project meer leren over hoe het strafrechtsysteem werkt.
Wat levert het project op?
Om deze doelen te bereiken, doen we verschillende dingen binnen dit project. Op landelijk niveau wordt er met een meetinstrument – een justitiële gelijkheidsmonitor – onderzocht waar er ongelijkheid is in het strafrechtsysteem. Op kleinere schaal worden trainingen en hulpmiddelen ontwikkeld voor zowel jongeren als politieagenten, zodat ze elkaar beter kunnen begrijpen en vertrouwen.
