What do registry agents do?

Registry agents throughout the province offer a range of services to Albertans, giving efficient, secure and convenient service throughout the province. While registries offer more than 200 government services, they are primarily helping Albertans with motor vehicle registration and licensing, vital statistics, land title searches, corporate registrations, and personal property registries.

Why are registries independently owned and operated in Alberta?

Alberta is the only privatized registry jurisdiction in North America. Our province created this approach because it means greater accessibility and customer satisfaction. Other jurisdictions have a single centralized system operated by the government, which often means fewer locations and longer wait times for services.

Who sets the fees at my registry? Are fees across all registries the same?

Many important business decisions, processes, procedures and protocols, including prices, are set by the provincial government.

Why aren't all registries open at the same hours of operation?
