How do utility bills get into the system?

There are two ways to get bills into EnergyCAP. The first option is self-service—your team can enter bills manually, import them via spreadsheet, or post them through the API. The second is Bill Capture. EnergyCAP’s bill offering where our team handles collection, extraction, and entry on your behalf, using an advanced combination of AI, automation, and human review. Bill Capture can also include direct retrieval of bills from your utility provider, eliminating the need to handle bills at all.

What is Bill Capture and how does it work?

Instead of manually typing in bill data, our technology ingests utility bill PDFs, extracts detailed data, and populates it directly into EnergyCAP

What if my utility provider requires multi-factor authentication?

MFA is increasingly common. While this can cause challenges for automated bill retrieval, EnergyCAP has standard processes in place for customers whose utility providers implement MFA.

Can you process bills in languages other than English?

Yes. EnergyCAP can process bills in multiple languages. For organizations operating across multiple countries, all reporting, charts, and data can be converted into a single, unified currency regardless of the currency on the underlying bills, giving you a consistent view of costs across your entire portfolio.

How do you handle missing bills?

Missing bill management is an important part of our service. The EnergyCAP platform includes reports to help identify gaps in your bill data. For customers on managed services, our team proactively monitors expected bill arrival dates and follows up when bills don’t arrive on schedule.
