Boney is a shared accounting ledger built for households: couples, roommates, and families. It continuously calculates who owes what to whom from the expenses you enter, with no bank connection and no money flowing through Boney. Free up to 2 participants, premium starting at €3.90/month for larger groups.

Which platforms is Boney available on?

Full web app in any modern browser, Android app on the Play Store, installable on iPhone via Safari, and installable as a desktop app on Mac, Windows, and Linux. Your accounts follow you everywhere, synced automatically across devices.

Do I need to connect my bank to use Boney?

No. Boney does not connect to any bank or bank account. You enter your shared expenses, Boney calculates the balances based on the shares you set. No banking credentials are requested, and nothing is read from your accounts.

Is Boney really free?

Yes. The free plan is permanent and no credit card is required. You get up to 3 budgets, 2 participants per budget, and 30 days of analytics history. Entering expenses, recording income, and scheduling recurring entries stay unlimited.

How do you share expenses without a joint account, and what happens to my money?

Good news: no money flows through Boney. You keep your existing bank accounts. You enter each shared expense and note who paid; Boney continuously calculates who owes what to whom. You settle up however you like — bank transfer, cash, or buying the next round.

Does Boney force a 50/50 split?

No. You decide your shares together. 50/50 stays available if you choose it; every other ratio works too, per expense or per budget.

What if there are more than two of us?

Free is limited to 2 participants per budget. For a household of 3+ roommates or a family, Premium unlocks unlimited participants and unlimited budgets. Premium is €3.90/month or €24.90/year at the reduced annual price (€46.80/year full price).

How does it work for couples?

You invite your partner into a shared budget and set the shares (50/50 or adjusted to match your incomes). Free already covers this case: 2 participants, no credit card required.
