Do I need a permit for electrical work in Decatur or Atlanta?

Yes, most electrical work in Georgia beyond minor repairs requires a permit from your local jurisdiction. Panel upgrades, new circuits, EV charger installations, and rewiring projects all require permits in DeKalb County, Fulton County, and the City of Atlanta. Bray Electrical handles all permit applications and coordinates county inspections on your behalf — you don't need to manage any paperwork.

How do I know if my home's electrical panel needs to be replaced?

Common signs that a panel replacement may be needed include: breakers that trip frequently or won't reset, a panel that feels warm or shows scorch marks, flickering lights throughout the home, a 60–100 amp panel that can't support modern appliance loads, or a Federal Pacific, Zinsco, or Pushmatic brand panel — all of which have documented safety issues. If your Atlanta home was built before 1990, a panel inspection is a worthwhile safety precaution. Bray Electrical offers free panel assessments for Decatur and Atlanta-area homeowners.
