What is this?
CBB Sim allows you to randomly play out the results for the rest of the 2023-24 NCAA men's college basketball regular season and conference tournaments. You can also see the probability of seeding and tournament results based on the outcomes of 10,000 sims.
How are the win probabilities calculated?
They're based on the KenPom Ratings. The particular formulas used are from this 6 year old thread on /r/CollegeBasketball. The goal here is to have some fun data visualization with a decent enough estimate of win probabilities, not to build a predictive model. Injuries are not taken into consideration.
What about tiebreakers?
These probabilites don't claim to know every conference tiebreaker rule. They assume that all ties are broken by head-to-head record among the tied teams. Any ties deeper than that are randomly decided by each sim.
Will new features be added?
Yes, a sim for the NCAA tournament where the bracket is based off simmed regular season and conference tourney results will soon be available.
