How to Check for Dead Pixels?

Cycle through solid colors (black, white, red, green, blue) and look for pixels that don't match the background. Dead pixels appear as black dots, while stuck pixels show as colored dots on contrasting backgrounds.

Dead Pixel vs. Stuck Pixel: What's the Difference?

Dead pixels and stuck pixels are different display defects. A dead pixel is completely unresponsive and appears permanently black on all colors because the transistor has failed. A stuck pixel is partially functional - it's stuck displaying one color (red, green, or blue) due to a sub-pixel remaining constantly on. Stuck pixels may be fixable, while dead pixels are permanent.

Can Dead Pixels Be Fixed?

Dead pixels (completely black) are typically permanent and cannot be repaired as the transistor is physically damaged. However, stuck pixels (showing red, green, or blue) can sometimes be fixed by running rapid color-cycling or flashing patterns for 10-20 minutes to unstick the affected sub-pixel.
