How much does it cost to hire a food truck for an event?

Pricing depends on your event type and structure. For vending programs (where the truck sells directly to guests), the cost to the property or company is often $0 — the truck generates revenue from sales. Is there a minimum spend or guest count?

Minimum requirements vary by vendor. Most trucks require a minimum of 50–75 guests or a minimum sales guarantee. We will communicate all requirements clearly when we match you with a vendor.

How far in advance should I book a food truck?

We recommend booking 2–4 weeks in advance for the best vendor selection. For peak season events (spring and fall), 4–6 weeks is ideal. We can sometimes accommodate last-minute requests — contact us and we will do our best.

Can I hire multiple food trucks for one event?

Yes. Many of our clients run multi-truck events for large corporate gatherings, apartment community events, and festivals. We coordinate all vendors simultaneously so you have one point of contact throughout.

Can I request a specific cuisine type or food truck?

Absolutely. We do our best to match your cuisine preferences with available vendors. We can also accommodate dietary requirements including halal, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and nut-free options.

Do food trucks need permits to operate in Washington DC?

Yes. DC requires Mobile Roadway Vendor (MRV) permits for public street vending. For private property events, permit requirements vary. DistrictBites handles all permit logistics for your event — you don't need to worry about this.

Do vendors carry insurance?

Yes. Every vendor in the DistrictBites network is required to maintain commercial general liability insurance with a minimum of $1,000,000 in coverage. We have COI documentation on file for every vendor and can provide it to your venue or building management upon request.

How much space does a food truck need?

A standard food truck requires approximately 2–3 parking spaces (roughly 30–40 feet) for setup. We will advise on exact requirements when we confirm your vendor.
