Does chiropractic care hurt?

Most patients describe adjustments as a gentle pressure release, not pain. Dr. Shippy uses techniques suited to each patient's comfort level, including gentler options for seniors, pregnant patients, and children. Any popping sound is gas releasing from the joint, not bone grinding.

How many visits will I need?

It depends on the condition, how long it's been present, and your health goals. Acute issues like a recent auto accident injury often improve in a few weeks of care. Chronic conditions like degenerative disc disease or long-standing sciatica typically need a longer, phased plan. Dr. Shippy builds a custom plan after your first exam.

What should I expect at my first appointment?

Your first visit includes a health history review, a physical and postural exam, and often X-rays if needed. Dr. Shippy will explain his findings and recommend a plan before any adjustment is performed. Most first visits at Shippy Chiropractic run 45-60 minutes.
