What is the Orton-Gilligham Approach?

The Orton-Gillingham Approach is a direct, explicit, multisensory, structured, sequential, diagnostic, and prescriptive way to teach literacy when reading, writing, and spelling does not come easily to individuals, such as those with dyslexia. It is most properly understood and practiced as an approach, not a method, program, or system.

What does it mean to be OG Certified?

I was classroom-trained for 64 hours by an OG Fellow. Afterward, I completed a practicum with a dyslexic student for over 100 lessons while my OG Fellow critiqued my lessons and provided feedback. The entire process took 1.5 years. After being admitted into the OGA, I must take continuing education credits every year.
