AI Visibility Scorecard
earwigfacts.com · Home & Living
Borderline visible. AI bots can crawl EarwigFacts, but the structured-data signals are thin - you are at real risk of being skipped when buyers ask ChatGPT, Claude, or Perplexity for a recommendation.

EarwigFacts describes itself simply: "Finding earwigs in your house? Learn why they come indoors, what attracts them, where they hide, whether they signal moisture, and what to check next." To AI engines like ChatGPT and Perplexity, though, it is barely visible: it scores 3.5 out of 10.
Our crawl found a sitemap and a readable heading structure. It is missing structured data describing the business and an llms.txt file.

Your AEO score measures whether AI search engines - ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini - can actually read your site and cite it in answers. Roughly two-thirds of sites are invisible to them. At 3.5/10, EarwigFacts is crawlable but under-signaled - fixable, and the signals above are where to start.
What should you do about an earwig indoors?
One earwig, no moistureRemove it, check the nearest door or gap, and monitor. One visitor usually does not justify a service call.Compare isolated and repeated sightings Several in the same dry areaLook for a repeatable entry path.
What are earwigs doing inside the house?
Earwigs are mostly outdoor insects. They are active at night and spend daylight hours in narrow, dark and protected spaces. Outside, that can mean damp soil, mulch, loose bark, garden debris, stacked materials or the underside of pots and stones. They eat a mixture of decaying plant material, soft vegetation and small organisms. A house is not usually their preferred long-term habitat.
Does finding an earwig mean the house has a moisture problem?
Not by itself. A single earwig does not prove a plumbing leak, wet basement, damaged foundation or failed waterproofing system. It may have entered through an open door, arrived with a box or plant, or moved indoors after outdoor conditions changed.
Are earwigs dangerous?
Earwigs are recognizable by the forceps-like appendages at the end of the abdomen. Despite the old folklore surrounding them, they do not seek out human ears and are not known for spreading household disease. They may use their forceps defensively if handled, so avoid picking them up with bare hands. For most homeowners, an indoor earwig is a nuisance rather than an emergency.
What to check before calling anyone?
Remove the insect and record the location. The exact wall, fixture, doorway or cabinet matters if another appears. Look for an obvious exterior route. Check accessible door sweeps, window screens, utility openings and gaps where materials meet. Check for real moisture evidence. Inspect safely accessible plumbing, cabinet surfaces, wall-floor edges and nearby exterior soil. Compare the timing with weather.
