What is an escape room?

An escape room is a live, immersive game where a group of players are placed in a themed room and must solve a series of puzzles, find hidden clues, and work together to complete a mission before time runs out — usually 60 minutes. Escape The Room pioneered this experience in the US, opening our first game in New York City in 2013.

How many people do you need for an escape room?

Most of our escape rooms accommodate 2 to 10 players. Two people can absolutely have a great time, and larger groups of 6-10 often find the experience even more exciting. For corporate events or parties over 10, we can run multiple rooms simultaneously.

Are escape rooms scary?

Most of our rooms are not scary at all — they're themed around adventures, mysteries, and puzzles. We offer a variety of themes from spy missions to archaeological digs. Some rooms have suspenseful atmospheres, but nothing with jump scares or horror elements. Our game guides can help you pick the perfect room for your comfort level.

How much does an escape room cost?

Pricing varies by location, but typically ranges from $30-$45 per person. Group rates, corporate packages, and birthday party packages are available at most locations. We also offer gift cards if you're looking for a unique experience gift.

Can kids do escape rooms?

Yes! Escape rooms are great for kids ages 8 and up when accompanied by adults. They're excellent for building teamwork, critical thinking, and communication skills. Many families choose escape rooms for birthday parties. Players under 16 must be accompanied by a participating adult.

What happens if you don't escape in time?

No worries — you won't be locked in! When time is up, your game guide will come in, explain the remaining puzzles, and show you how close you were to escaping. At Escape The Room, we offer unlimited hints throughout the game, so you always have support when you need it.
