Are your technicians certified/state licensed?

Yes. Our team members hold Certificates of Competency and Certified Elevator Technician designations granted by the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation – Bureau of Elevator Safety. Only Certified Elevator Technicians are allowed to construct, install, inspect, maintain or repair elevators, escalators and other vertical conveyances in the State of Florida.

We cover almost all of South Florida, from the Keys to Orlando, including Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Key West, Miami, Naples, Palm Beach and Sarasota.

Do you have a showroom in Florida?

Yes, our showroom is located in Boynton Beach, in Palm Beach County, Florida. It features several demo units of our popular products, including the Savaria Vuelift.

Do I need a building permit for my home elevator in Florida?

Yes, you absolutely need permits for a home elevator in Florida! Most projects require an elevator permit for the elevator itself and a local building permit (from your city or county) for the structural, electrical, and mechanical work, as these are regulated by the Florida Building Code and local departments. We will help you obtain the elevator permit, while your builder or contractor needs to manage the local permits and inspections.

Do residential elevators require inspection in Florida?

No, residential elevators in Florida do not necessarily require annual inspections.

What inspections are required for commercial elevators and lifts in Florida?

Commercial elevators and lifts require mandatory annual inspections by a state-approved, third-party Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI). This is to ensure the unit complies with the Florida Building Code (FBC) and ASME A17.1/CSA B44 standards, as well as adherence to specific state amendments for hurricane preparedness. Units that fail inspection may be subject to fines if violations aren’t corrected within 90 days.

Do I need to have an architect for a home elevator installation in Florida?

Most projects that involve a traditional home elevator with a hoistway require an architect and/or engineer to design the hoistway, ensure structural integrity, and get permits. For our home elevator and lift models that do not require a shaftway or other major renovations—the Luma through-floor lift and the Savaria Vuelift panoramic elevator—may not require the services of a designer or engineer. We can help guide you to the right elevating solution after a site visit.

How much space is required for a home elevator?

For a home elevator that requires a hoistway, you’ll require about 5 feet by 5 feet for a standard cab. Call us to explore options if you have limited space. The Vuelift Mini, for example, only needs a 50-inch footprint and can often fit inside a wraparound or circular staircase. For two-stop applications, the Savaria Luma only requires a 38″ by 47″ footprint.
