What is ceremonial grade matcha, and how is it different from other grades?

Ceremonial grade matcha is the highest quality matcha, made from the youngest and finest tea leaves. It is designed to be consumed on its own, as a tea, without added sweeteners or milk, to fully enjoy its rich and delicate flavor. Lower grades, such as culinary matcha, are still great for cooking and baking but are typically less vibrant and can have a slightly bitter taste.

How do I prepare matcha properly?

To prepare matcha, start by heating water to about 70°C (not boiling). Add one teaspoon of matcha powder to a bowl, then pour in about 0.5 dl of water. Use a matcha whisk (or a small frother) in a zigzag motion to mix until the texture becomes smooth and slightly frothy. You can enjoy it as is or mix in your choice of milk for a latte.
