Glass Block Installation Experts

What Is Glass Block Installation and Where Is It Commonly Used?

Glass block installation involves setting solid glass blocks into framed or mortared openings to create light-transmitting walls, windows, and partitions. Glass blocks are commonly used in bathrooms, basements, showers, and privacy walls because they allow light while limiting visibility.

Glass Block Window Vs. Traditional Window: Which Is Better for Privacy?

Glass block windows provide more privacy than traditional clear glass because the textured surface distorts visibility while still allowing daylight through. They are commonly installed in bathrooms and basements where natural light is needed without direct sightlines.

Can Glass Blocks Be Installed in Shower Walls and Bathroom Partitions?

Yes, glass blocks are frequently installed in shower walls and bathroom partitions because they resist moisture and do not require framing like standard windows. Their solid construction also helps create durable, low-maintenance privacy barriers.

Why Are My Existing Glass Blocks Cracking or Separating?

Glass blocks usually crack or separate due to structural movement, failed mortar joints, or expansion stress around the opening. Water intrusion and settling can also weaken joints and cause gaps between blocks over time.

Are Mortared Glass Blocks Better Than Silicone or Vinyl Systems?

Mortared glass block systems create a rigid, permanent structure, while silicone or vinyl systems allow more flexibility and faster installation. The better option depends on opening size, movement tolerance, and whether the installation is structural or decorative.
