Glass Block Window Installation Experts

What Are Glass Block Windows and Why Are They Used Instead of Traditional Windows?

Glass block windows are made from thick sealed glass units that allow natural light to enter while limiting visibility from the outside. They are commonly installed in basements, bathrooms, garages, and other areas where privacy and security are more important than ventilation.

Are Glass Block Windows More Secure Than Standard Glass Windows?

Yes, glass block windows are generally more secure because the thick glass construction is difficult to break compared to standard window panes. Their solid design also eliminates accessible locks, latches, and openings that are common entry points on traditional windows.

Can Glass Block Windows Be Installed in Basement Window Openings?

Yes, glass block windows are frequently installed in existing basement window openings as a replacement for aging steel-frame or single-pane windows. They help reduce drafts, improve privacy, and resist moisture in below-grade environments.

Glass Block Windows Vs. Frosted Glass: Which Provides Better Privacy?

Glass block windows typically provide greater privacy because their textured surfaces distort shapes and movement while still allowing daylight to pass through. Frosted glass can offer privacy as well, but visibility often increases when people are close to the window.

Why Is Water Leaking Around My Glass Block Window?

Water leaks around a glass block window are usually caused by failed perimeter caulking, deteriorated mortar joints, or improper flashing around the opening. Moisture can enter through gaps in the surrounding structure even when the glass blocks themselves remain intact.
