Illinois State Academy of Science

Illinois State Academy of Science is a business whose own site puts it this way: "Welcome We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our mission, from our founding in 1907, has been the promotion of scientific research, the diffusion of scientific knowledge, and the." To AI engines like ChatGPT and Perplexity, though, it is barely visible: it scores 4.8 out of 10.

On the page itself the strengths are clear: a clear heading structure, a clearly stated business identity and visible credibility markers. It is passable on partial sitemap and link coverage. What holds it back is structured data describing the business and the technical files AI engines look for, such as llms.txt or an open robots.txt.

Away from its own site, other sites link to it. There is some, but not much, sign that the domain is only lightly established. Beyond that, AI engines do not yet recognise it as a distinct business, there is no press coverage to draw on, nobody is discussing it where AI engines look and it does not come up on Reddit. Those are earned elsewhere on the web, not fixed on the site itself.
