Janus is a real-time character animation platform that transforms your webcam feed into any character instantly. Using AI-powered facial tracking, you can stream as a character on Discord, Zoom, Twitch, YouTube, and other platforms without any special hardware or setup.

How does Janus work?

Janus uses advanced AI to track your facial expressions and movements through your webcam. It then applies these movements to your chosen character in real-time, creating a fully animated version of you. The technology works entirely through your browser or our Chrome extension, requiring no downloads or special equipment.

What platforms does Janus work with?

Do I need special equipment or hardware?

No special equipment is needed! All you need is a standard webcam and microphone. Janus works with any webcam, including built-in laptop cameras. The AI processing happens in real-time without requiring expensive motion capture equipment or green screens.

Can I create my own character?

Yes! Janus offers a character builder that lets you create custom avatars. You can also choose from our library of pre-made featured characters. Whether you want to be a fantasy character, an animal, or something completely unique, you have full creative control.

Is Janus free to use?

Janus offers a free tier to get you started. You can sign up and try streaming with our featured characters at no cost. For access to advanced features, custom character creation, and higher quality streaming, we offer premium plans.

How does Janus handle my privacy and data?

Your privacy is our priority. All facial tracking happens in real-time and we don't store your webcam footage. We only process the data needed to animate your character during your active session. You maintain full control over when your camera is active and what gets shared. Images uploaded when creating an avatar from an image are also not stored on our servers, they are only used in transit to generate the final avatar.

What are the technical requirements?

Janus works best with a modern computer and a stable internet connection. We recommend using the latest version of Chrome or a Chromium-based browser for optimal performance. A webcam with at least 720p resolution will give you the best results, though it works with any webcam.
