I’ve never surfed before — is Kalon right for me?

Yes. Many guests arrive without prior surf experience, and many arrive with some experience. We coach in small groups with a 3:1 guest-to-coach ratio, focusing on strong foundations that help everyone progress safely and confidently during the week.

I’ve surfed before — will I still benefit from the coaching?

Yes. Our coaching emphasizes solid fundamentals — technique, positioning, and understanding the ocean. This approach supports meaningful improvement, whether you’re building consistency or refining your surfing.

Do I need any preparation before arriving?

No specific fitness level is required. Surfing is highly individual, and progress looks different for everyone. Our coaches adjust the pace and approach so guests can learn comfortably and feel confident in the water. That said, if you'd like to prepare, anything that builds balance and core stability — yoga, pilates, swimming — will serve you well in the waves.

What are the evenings like?

Kalon is designed for guests who value comfort, quality, and balance. It’s social and welcoming, but never a party scene. Evenings revolve around good food, easy conversation, and unwinding after a full day — relaxed, comfortable, and unforced.

What exactly is included?

Your stay includes 7 nights accommodation, all meals, snacks, and drinks, surf coaching and equipment, airport transfers from San José (SJO), video analysis and photos, yoga sessions, and one massage.

What does a typical day look like?

Mornings begin at an easy pace with Costa Rican breakfast and freshly brewed local coffee. Surf coaching follows, then time to relax — at the pool, on the beach, in a yoga class, or simply enjoying the surroundings. Evenings bring sunset views and beautifully prepared dinners to close the day.

What should I pack?

Bring what feels comfortable. Swimwear, light clothing, and something easy for evenings are perfect. We provide surf equipment and sunblock. If you plan to join an excursion, comfortable walking shoes are useful.

What kind of atmosphere can I expect?

Kalon is calm, welcoming, and intentionally unhurried. Guests come to be active during the day, well cared for, and comfortable at all times — with space to relax, connect, or simply enjoy being away.
