"Musings -- in the spirit of what goes around comes around." That is how The Ferries Wheel introduces itself. To AI engines like ChatGPT and Perplexity it is partially visible, scoring 5.2 out of 10, readable in places and missing in others.
On the page itself the strengths are clear: a clear heading structure and sitemaps and entity links AI can follow. It is passable on a few credibility markers and basic crawler access. What holds it back is a clearly stated business identity and structured data describing the business.
Off the page there is only faint evidence that only a handful of sites link to it. Beyond that, the domain does not yet read as established, AI engines do not yet recognise it as a distinct business, there is no press coverage to draw on, nobody is discussing it where AI engines look and it does not come up on Reddit. Those are earned elsewhere on the web, not fixed on the site itself.
AI crawlers have visited once in our tracking, including ClaudeBot (Anthropic). It does link out to several social profiles, which helps engines tie the brand together.

Your AEO score measures whether AI search engines - ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini - can actually read your site and cite it in answers. Roughly two-thirds of sites are invisible to them. At 5.2/10, The Ferries Wheel has a working base to build on - fixable, and the signals above are where to start.
We won’t be fooled again …?
I’ve been writing these columns sporadically for several years. I haven’t claimed to have any information beyond that available to the public, of which I am a card-carrying member. But even with this limitation, there are ironies out there if you take the trouble to look. Take, for example, the 2024 election, and the odds of what is to follow over the next four years. Consider the different economies.
How low can he go?
It is a constant source of amazement that no matter how low our former president can go in his public acts and pronouncements, he can always go even lower. It’s as if just when we think he’s hit the basement floor and can go no deeper that he discovers a new sub-basement and jumps right in with both feet, heel spurs and all.
