Real-time extension for Windows or real-time operating system?

Kithara RealTime Suite is both: Windows is used for booting, but is then separated from the real-time operating system. This means that Windows is extended with real-time features, but the Kithara real-time system continues to run independently, even if Windows crashes.

How does real-time work under Windows?

Windows is instructed to boot on a limited number of CPU cores. On the other cores, Kithara RealTime Suite now runs as a separate real-time operating system (RTOS), parallel to Windows, without either restricting the other. Where can Kithara RealTime Suite be used?

In principle, the software can be effectively implemented in almost any industrial sector where “hard” real-time properties are required. We are currently focusing in particular on the fields of automation, automotive development and machine vision.

What do I need?

All you need is a Windows-PC with a multi-core processor. You can use C++, Delphi, C# (via C++ DLL) or any other language that can generate a DLL with native machine code as a compiler.
