About The Knowledge Illusion

from our crawl and measurement

The Knowledge Illusion describes itself simply: "worrying about whether we are as smart as we think we are?." To AI engines like ChatGPT and Perplexity, though, it is barely visible: it scores 4.0 out of 10.

On the page itself the strengths are clear: a clear heading structure, visible credibility markers and sitemaps and entity links AI can follow. It is passable on basic crawler access. What holds it back is a clearly stated business identity and structured data describing the business.

Off the page there is only faint evidence that the domain is only lightly established. Beyond that, almost no other sites link to it, AI engines do not yet recognise it as a distinct business, there is no press coverage to draw on, nobody is discussing it where AI engines look and it does not come up on Reddit. Those are earned elsewhere on the web, not fixed on the site itself.

The site links to no social profiles, so there is nothing tying the brand to a wider presence.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who moved my brAIn? Is this the next self help best seller to get us ready for our AI future?

August 16, 2017 — Prof. Rose Luckin I’m pleased to report that my ankle is progressing well and I am now once again able to achieve my ‘misfit‘ challenge of 1000 activity points per day: clearly it is a good job I was only mildly curious. However, I want to be more than mildly curious when it come to my intellect, and I want to do this without injury.

AI is our future, but can we convince Frank?

August 14, 2017 — Prof. Rose Luckin As a child I was always frustrated by the phrase: “curiosity killed the cat”. This was a frequent retort when I was trying to understand how things worked. Well, I am not reporting any cat killing incidences here, but my curiosity about myself driven by my new ‘misfit’ may have been a primary factor in my newly sprained ankle!

More relevant than ever…Information plenty, but knowledge famine: are we succumbing to an illusion?

I am curious about knowledge, not in philosophical sense, but in a practical one. I worry about what it means to know something in a world that is increasingly complex, ill defined and interconnected: a world that demands that we develop, and that we ensure that our children develop, the knowledge capacity to solve the problems it manifests and those that we create.

We can radically redesign the 11 plus exam to make it fairer, so what is stopping us?

September 13, 2016 — Prof. Rose Luckin AI assessment systems could provide a fairer eleven plus selection, it could also start to address the vexed question of assessing potential rather than just current ability. We know that well designed AI systems that assess learning, are accurate in their assessment.

Picked for The Knowledge Illusion: How-To

How to Get Your Company Named by ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude

When a buyer asks ChatGPT which company to use, two different things can happen. ChatGPT can name a company in its answer. Or it can link to a web page as a source. Most advice about AI visibility is about the second one. Our data says the first one is what matters.
