Leanpub describes itself simply: "Read ebooks and take online courses while the author is still writing them, and get every update free. Or write, publish, and sell your own in-progress book or course on Leanpub." Measured against the twelve signals AI engines rely on, it scores 7.0 out of 10, a strong showing.

On its own pages the site does well on a clear heading structure, crawler access and the files AI engines look for and sitemaps and entity links AI can follow. It is passable on some structured data and a partly stated business identity. What holds it back is credibility markers like credentials or reviews.

Off the page, other sites link to it, the domain reads as established, people discuss it in places AI engines read and it comes up on Reddit. There is some, but not much, sign that press coverage is thin. Beyond that, AI engines do not yet recognise it as a distinct business.
