How is Mailblast different from Mailchimp?

Mailchimp charges based on your subscriber count and includes its own sending infrastructure. Mailblast charges a flat monthly fee and routes email through Amazon SES, which you control. Do I need an Amazon AWS account to use Mailblast?

Yes. Mailblast uses your own Amazon SES credentials to send email on your behalf, and that is exactly what keeps costs low - you pay AWS directly with no per-email markup from Mailblast. AWS includes a generous free tier: 62,000 emails per month free when sending from an Amazon EC2 instance, and 3,000 free messages per month from any other origin. Beyond that, SES costs roughly $0.10 per 1,000 emails. Setting up SES takes about 5 minutes: verify your sending domain, request production access, and paste your access keys into Mailblast. Can I import my existing subscriber lists?

Yes. Upload a CSV file with subscriber data and Mailblast handles the rest: it imports name and email, removes duplicates against existing lists, and respects any prior unsubscribes you flag in the import file. Hard-bounced and complaint addresses are suppressed from all future campaigns the instant the notification arrives, protecting your SES account standing and your domain reputation. Per-campaign reports break out bounce, complaint, open, and click rates in real time so you can see deliverability trends before they become problems.
