Can I cancel any time?

Yes. One click in the dashboard. Your box keeps running until the end of the billing period, then it's deprovisioned. We don't refund unused time. The trade: you get the full month you paid for, no pro-rata gotcha mid-cycle.

Do you read my conversations?

No. Your conversations and memories stay on your box, in Hermes's own storage. We can log in to fix broken services or respond to abuse reports, but we don't pipe your data anywhere and our control plane has no way to fetch your files.

What if Hermes Agent has a security issue?

We track Nous Research's release feed. Routine updates land on Sunday nights with a brief restart. Security patches we apply within 24 hours of upstream disclosure. If a fix needs you in the loop, we get in touch first.

Can I get root access to the box?

Not by default. The box is a managed appliance locked down to our operator keys so we can guarantee its behaviour. We're building an opt-in tinkerer mode that hands you a per-user SSH key with a clear you-break-it-you-own-it disclaimer.

What model should I start with?

For most people: openrouter/google/gemini-2.5-flash-lite. About $0.10 per million input tokens, fast, more than capable for a personal agent. If you have an Anthropic key, anthropic/claude-haiku-4.5 is great too. Switch any time from the Hermes dashboard with /model.

What happens to my data when I cancel?

It gets destroyed with the box at the end of your billing period. Hermes has a /backup command that exports your memories, skills and session logs as a zip. Run it before you cancel if you want to keep them. We don't keep copies on our side.

What if my LLM bill goes crazy?

It can't go through us. Your key, your provider's billing limits. Set per-request and monthly caps in your provider's dashboard. The $9.99 we charge is the only number on our side.

Why Hermes Agent specifically?

We tried a few. Hermes had the cleanest install, real persistent memory, a working messaging gateway, MIT license, and Nous Research ships actual updates. We didn't want to half-support five different agents, so we picked the one we'd use ourselves.
