About A Range of Reasonable Responses

from our crawl and measurement

A Range of Reasonable Responses is a business whose own site puts it this way: "A Range of Reasonable Responses A balanced approach to UK employment law Skip to content HomeDarren Newman ← Older posts Is the government serious about guaranteed hours?." When AI engines look at it, they find little to work with. It scores 3.5 out of 10.

Our crawl found a sitemap and a readable heading structure. It is missing structured data describing the business and an llms.txt file.

AI crawlers have visited once in our tracking, including ClaudeBot (Anthropic).

What this score means

Your AEO score measures whether AI search engines (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini) can read your site and name it in answers. At 3.5/10, A Range of Reasonable Responses is crawlable but under-signaled - fixable, and the signals above are where to start.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who does the right apply to?

The right to guaranteed hours does not just apply to zero-hours workers. The Act allows regulations to set a threshold of guaranteed hours per week above which the right will not apply.

Is this actually going to happen?

My theory remains that this will never in fact come into force. The current consultation ends in August this year.

A new test of fairness?

The consultation basically offers up two options for considertation. Option 1 would introduce a new test of fairness that would apply to all dismissals of protected employees. This would be a stricter standard than the current test of reasonableness. Here is what the Government suggests under this option: 35.

Limiting the reasons for dismissal?

There is a much more detailed discussion of Option 2 – but mainly to point out what a bad idea it is. Option 2 is expressed as narrowing the scope for dismissal or ‘removing some of the fair dismissal reasons’. This refers to what are generally known as the ‘potentially fair reasons for dismissal’ set out in S.98 of the Employment Rights Act 1996.

What is this all for?

The truth is I just don’t understand what the Government is trying to achieve by changing the law.

Picked for A Range of Reasonable Responses: How-To

How to Get Your Company Named by ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude

When a buyer asks ChatGPT which company to use, two different things can happen. ChatGPT can name a company in its answer. Or it can link to a web page as a source. Most advice about AI visibility is about the second one. Our data says the first one is what matters.
