Yes. Model Teaching offers a variety of course types, including PD (hours-based) courses and university-partnered graduate-level courses, so they can be applied to as many state education departments and districts as possible. Our PD courses are pre-approved in many states, and most states accept our university-partnered courses for teacher license renewal and salary advancement. What can these courses be used for?

Model Teaching courses are used by thousands of teachers across the country to renew their teaching licenses or certifications, advance their teacher salaries or pay scales, and improve their instructional practice. We offer both clock-hour PD courses, approved in many states, and university-partnered graduate-level credit courses. What is the difference between Professional Development and Academic Credit courses?

Model Teaching offers two main types of courses: Online Professional Development (hours-based) courses and Online Academic Credit university-partnered courses offered through regionally accredited universities. Professional Development courses award PD hours or clock hours and may be pre-approved in some states. Academic Credit courses award graduate-level semester credits from a regionally accredited university, which most state departments of education accept for license renewal and many districts accept for salary advancement. I'm not currently teaching. Can I still take Model Teaching courses?

Yes. You do not need to be currently teaching or have access to a classroom or students in order to take Model Teaching courses. Our courses are designed so you can still complete all requirements, and you can apply what you learn later in your own classroom when you are ready.

Can Model Teaching courses be applied towards a Master's program?

Yes. Through our partnership with Augustana University (AU), you can apply Model Teaching courses toward a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree, helping you save on tuition. Up to 9 credits of coursework completed through Model Teaching may be applied toward Augustana’s M.Ed. degree as part of Augustana’s learner-designed concentration.
