1. What are apparel manufacturing management software systems?

Apparel manufacturing management software systems run production, inventory, costing, and execution for textile and fashion manufacturers. Most ERPs treat apparel like a variation of generic manufacturing. Polygon Software doesn’t. We build two products, both purpose-built for apparel from day one: PolyPM, an all-in-one ERP and PLM that runs production, inventory, costing, and order management, and PolyNest, a pattern design and marker-making system. They solve different problems and are sold separately. Some manufacturers run both. Some run one. Each stands on its own.

2. Are PolyPM and PolyNest the same product?

No. PolyPM and PolyNest are two distinct products in the Polygon ecosystem. PolyPM runs ERP and PLM: styles, BOMs, materials, cut planning, WIP, and shipping in one database. PolyNest runs pattern design, grading, marker making, and DXF imports for the cutting floor. You can buy either on its own, or run them together for a fully connected design-to-shipment workflow.

3. Our PLM and ERP are separate systems. How does PolyPM fix the re-entry problem?

When PLM and ERP run on separate systems, every BOM change has to be manually re-entered across costing, purchasing, planning, and production. For high-variation programs like teamwear, uniforms, or licensed apparel, that re-entry never stops. PolyPM runs PLM and ERP on a single database. A BOM change updates costing, purchasing, planning, and production automatically. No manual sync. No version drift. One source of truth.

4. We screen print and embroider in-house. Can PolyPM handle decoration as production?

Yes. PolyPM treats decoration as native manufacturing, not outsourced work. Screen print press routing, embroidery, sublimation, artwork workflow, multi-location print tracking, and press resource scheduling all sit inside the same production schedule as cutting and sewing. The embroidery machine, the screen print press, the cutting table, and the sewing line appear on one plan. No second system. No reconciliation between platforms like ShopWorks or Printavo.

5. We can't see WIP at the bundle level. How does PolyPM track production in real time?

PolyPM tracks every operation, every bundle, every operator, every handoff, every subcontractor, and every delay at the bundle level. Mobile tote scanning and location tracking give supervisors a current picture of which bundles are stuck, which operators are behind, and whether today’s plan will actually ship – while there’s still time to do something about it.

6. We've heard ERP upgrades require full reimplementation. Does PolyPM work that way?

No. Generic ERPs like Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, and Odoo can require full reimplementation every five to seven years – hundreds of thousands to several million dollars, months of disruption, and custom workflows rebuilt from scratch. PolyPM customers upgrade version to version at no additional cost. No reimplementation. No redevelopment. No production downtime. The work you’ve done to shape PolyPM around your business stays intact.

7. We run uniforms, teamwear, and licensed apparel. Will PolyPM hold up under those kind of variations?

Yes. PolyPM is built for high-variation, change-heavy environments. Complex option sets, colorways, artwork, decoration rules, rosters, and customer-specific requirements are managed natively, with inventory and WIP staying under control as orders shift. The same platform supports apparel, footwear, swimwear, uniforms, workwear, safetywear, and other sewn textile categories. One platform. One logic. No separate system per product line.

8. Our DXF imports come in as choppy segmented lines. Can PolyNest fix that?

Yes. PolyNest interprets DXF imports as true garment curves, not point-to-point segments. Armholes, necklines, and contoured seams import ready for grading and marker making. The manual cleanup pattern teams normally absorb on every import goes away.
