Why did you build a spreadsheet in the browser vs. having an Excel plugin?

Having total control over the frontend interface means we can launch powerful features like editing multiple workbooks in a single analysis, or introducing better auditing features like our precedent tracing. It also lets analyses run asynchronously on our servers — kick off long-running work, close your laptop, and come back to the finished output instead of keeping an Excel window open. With Compound, our goal is to create the best AI-native drive experience for finance, which includes enhancing the spreadsheet itself.

What file formats does Compound support?

Analyze PDFs, Excel files (.xlsx, .xlsm, .csv, .tsv), Word documents, PowerPoints (.pptx), images, and other common formats. AI outputs include Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, and PowerPoint presentations.

How secure is Compound?

Compound is SOC 2 Type II compliant and built with enterprise security in mind. Data is AES-256 encrypted at rest and in transit. By default, we do not ever train on your data. For maximum enterprise security, we offer VPC deployments. To learn more please contact [email protected].

Can I revert changes Compound makes?

Yes. You can restore any checkpoint in a thread to revert back to a previous state. For spreadsheet outputs, you can always save versions or download versions locally.

Can I really trust Compound's outputs?

We've built the Compound AI Analyst with trust in mind. Every single analysis is auditable with detailed citations, and spreadsheet analysis is done with formulas fully-compatible in Excel.

What kinds of analysis can I do in Compound?
