What makes you different from other martial art instructors?

In the world of martial arts, students and instructors generally focus their time and energy on one or more of the following areas: 1. Tradition.2. Sport.3. Self-Defense.4. Health/Fitness.5. Fighting When I teach, I primarily focus on SKILL and ATTRIBUTE development as they relate to self-defense, fitness, and fighting (i.e. combatives, arrest & control, defensive tactics, street fighting, etc.).

I’ve been involved in the hands-on training of twenty-seven (27) styles of martial art over the past 43 years.

Do you do belt promotions in BJJ by email, up to brown belt?

The short answer, NO! • I’ve been teaching martial arts since 1987 and Jiu Jitsu since 1991. In that time, I have never promoted anyone by email. • In thirty-seven (37) years of teaching, I’ve only promoted one student through an online video testing protocol. This student was a known, 20-year long, student of mine.
