EM-DAT - The international disaster database

"EM-DAT is a global database with information on over 27,000 mass disasters from 1900 to present day. It's compiled from various sources, including UN agencies, NGOs, and press agencies." That is how EM-DAT introduces itself. Its AI visibility score is 5.6 out of 10: the engines can find it, but they do not have much to hold on to.

On its own pages the site does well on a clear heading structure and visible credibility markers. It is passable on basic crawler access and partial sitemap and link coverage. What holds it back is a clearly stated business identity and structured data describing the business.

Off the page, it turns up in press coverage. There is some, but not much, sign that the domain is only lightly established and there is little discussion of it. Beyond that, almost no other sites link to it, AI engines do not yet recognise it as a distinct business and it does not come up on Reddit. None of that can be fixed on the page: it has to be earned.
